My philosophy is simple: To walk along side you during this deeply personal and heartbreaking-yet sacred-time of loss, providing the compassion, insight and tools necessary for deep healing and transformation.
Miah Anzalone
A highly developed mind is a powerful tool and is what distinguishes us humans from the rest of the species on the planet. However, if left to its own devices and especially in high stress situations such as the loss of a beloved pet, we can easily get lost in our own thoughts of anger, guilt and sorrow which can reek havoc on our ability to function and heal. The good news is there are mindfulness techniques that can help get us out of our heads and bring us back to the the reality of the present moment which is where healing occurs and peace exists.
The mind is connected to the body so its not surprising the significant impact the loss of our beloved companions can have on our physical well-being. When I lost Lucky I experienced headaches and body aches as if I had the flu! Although the root of these symptoms lies at the mental level as described above, it is also important that we be mindful of how we are taking care of our physical needs during the grieving process. It sounds pretty obvious but you would be surprised how often we forget to be compassionate with ourselves and our bodies during this excruciatingly difficult time.
This is the transcendental dimension of our being that holds tremendous healing potential. Although it is not absolutely necessary to have some kind of spiritual belief system in order to heal from this devastating loss, my experience is that it significantly helps many on their healing journey and can be transformative. For those whom it resonates with, a deep journey into spirituality as a means to heal is something I offer in my program
Dr. Michelle Jeffries
Each session is an hour in length and costs $75. Sessions will be facilitated via the Zoom platform. A free 10 minute phone consultation is also available to answer any questions you have about the service.
We offer a confidential and safe container for compassionate, comprehensive and structured grief coaching for the loss of your pet that emphasizes a mind body spirit approach (A spiritual background of some sort will be extremely helpful however it is not a requirement). Please keep in mind that grief doesn’t discriminate so our services are open to all species of animals.
Grief is a process and that process is different for everyone. However, if grief is not processed properly it can result in the manifestation of both mental and/or physical symptoms. There are 5 stages of grief as defined by Elisabeth Kubler-Ross, a well-known Swiss- American psychiatrist: Denial, Anger, Guilt, Depression and Acceptance. However, David Kessler, A world-known expert on grief and loss, partnered with Kubler-Ross and added Finding Meaning as a 6th stage. This stage holds tremendous power and is something we will explore in depth.
The objective of this action-based program is not to help you get around your grief, as grief is a necessary part of the healing process. Also keep in mind that everyone grieves differently so we would tailor a program that fits your specific needs. My experience tells me that navigating the grieving process mindfully can result in inner discovery and expansion. This makes sense since the loss never goes away which forces us to evolve and become stronger in order to carry it with us.
